The most common causes of high blood pressure are genetic, smoking, stress, high cholesterol, excessive salt use, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, kidney disease, congestive heart failure, exposure to heavy metals (mercury, plutonium, lead etc. ) and obesity.
High blood pressure is blood pressure over 140 mm/hg systolic and over 90 mm/hg diastolic.
